It’s not often that local holiday’s are granted to towns on Long Island. However, that’s changed at least for the foreseeable future because every Tuesday is Tripper Tuesday in Woodbury. There was a raucous celebration and I do mean raucous in the Lavender Palace today that was total euphoria

 Sporting a bright orange headband, Svengali looked more like his former persona Mr. Mayhem for the 8:30 edition.  What followed had many onlookers doing double and triple takes beyond the glass doors. Peter and Louis must have sensed something too because they lingered in the hallway in utter amazement. 

How can I describe it? I will do my best. Starting with a full house always helps because there’s a better than even chance that the choreography as spirited as Tripp plays it will light a fire under the seat of at least a smattering of the troops, but today events could never have been anticipated. We were flying from the first note but it got noticeably amped about midway through by the clock on the wall. Our friends Cindy and Marcy surreptitiously had distributed a dozen or more of mini tambourines, and when they suddenly appeared in the middle of “Hand Jive” the rest of us broke out and broke up.  It was as if it was timed perfectly and the song couldn’t have been a better one. Where can you have this much fun and get the workout of your life? It’s right here.  And when Yvonne Elliman’s song came on: If I Can’t Have You, I thought: If We Can’t Have Kristen, We have TRIPPER.

Doherty was at his infectious best today and that word seemed to be circulating afterward because as I have said countless times it's not what he says, because you can’t see pure energy you can only feel it and this session will live viscerally for quite a long time in my solar plexus. I only wish that young Dana was here to be part of this and she will be lamenting in recovery.
