Beachy Spin

A change of paces these three days as I cycled at the beach down in Fa-la-la.  Not a bad place to spin provided of course you have some musical accompaniment to spur you on.  I loved the view of the white caps as they rushed to shore as I am truly a visual person. But it’s the music that does it for me always was that way when I was a marathoner and on the bike I clamor for good music.

On an old Johnny G. Spinner bike was I and although it was a little long in the tooth next to our Schwinn models it worked just fine as my mad pedal stroke took off in an environ that has its own set of interpretative inspirational track.

Some of the music that I used to spurn just two years ago I am now motivated by. Did I really say that?  In fact the Eminem song called: Lose Yourself had me pumped as I kept adding road in position #3. Rap I am listening to rap holy s*it. One verse that struck me in particular was him getting booed off stage, which made him even more motivated to push on. It was the vociferousness of the rejection that told him he was right on target with his dream.  Plenty of allegory for me and even though I am long in the tooth I can still bite and bite hard.

I am so sorry to have missed his Birthday on Tuesday but I was there in spirit and as I took off as the sun came up I was thinking about all of you back in the Lavender Palace in Woodbury. See you soon. Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and Happy New Year to all my friends.

Rock On Tripper!

Tripper’s birthday arrives this Tuesday and it will be a perfect day in the Lavender Palace as our man of spin turns 44. Is it okay to tell a man’s age? I think so we men have a different lens than the female of the species when it comes to marking Father Time. Still when you get long in the tooth as I, you get just a little sick of hearing “old man.” Tripp however is just hitting his prime and although we won’t have him climbing Mount Washington again there are many challenges ahead for him to face and conquer.  His 2011 if you ask him might be one of the most significant he has had in many a turn around the sun.

Happy Birthday Tripper see you in 2012 when you make more history.  Oh by the way I will be in a warmer climate this Christmas and I bid you all a great holiday.

We Are Family

At the risk of being merely a reporter about the festivities on Saturday night I would be remiss in not telling those unable to attend that the very social Mr. Authenticity made all of us feel that we are really part of his life and that although he might be our spin instructor he is really  our friend. And on Saturday you could feel the genuine love we have for this man.

Now none of this is possible unless a certain barrister made each and every one of us feel so welcome not to mention the attention she paid us of the kind reserved for favorite relatives and intimate friends.  This is a great team and you need only look to the smile on Tripp’s face all night long that this one may last a lifetime. But what do I know I have been called out on strikes if you get my drift.

As much as I have loved my nearly two years in spin this class has given me the F word as opposed to the A word. I have many Acquaintances here at EQ mostly because of my blogs and I hope it is also about  my passion but here in Doherty’s class the F word takes center stage: Friends.

The Human Torch

There are times when the energy that man emits makes me think of the Human Torch. He should actually spontaneously combust into a ball of flame. How does he commit such feeling to each and every class? Is he a bottomless pit? I spoke to our man today about how one of our members always feels good when she takes his class.

As if by magic whatever we are going through personally we get an hour respite and our troubles seem to be expunged.  Its never in words it’s just his personal aura. And that will always make me think: Flame On!
